Sarracenia -Trumpet Plants of North America
RHS Botanical Art and Photography Show June/July 2024
Series – Awarded a Bronze medal
RHS exhibit one:
I am totally captivated by these strange, complex but beautiful plants.
Sarracenia are subject to habitat loss and poaching. Being bog plants they are affected by climate change; 95% of their wetland habitats in the USA have disappeared. They are all listed as CITES endangered plants.
Sarracenia oreophila var.ornata is extremely rare and Sarracenia leucophylla ‘Tarnok’ is now unknown in the wild.
Each plant presented its own challenges, but all were a joy to observe and paint.
